Nash Dunlop Obituary, Death – Guelph Teen Remembered for Kindness, Athleticism and Friendship
Nash Jacob Ian Dunlop, 16, passed away suddenly and tragically on September 19, 2026, leaving his family, friends, classmates, teammates and the wider community grieving the loss of a deeply loved young man.
Remembering Nash Dunlop
Nash was the beloved son of Brady Dunlop and Erin Edwards and the cherished brother and best friend of Drew Dunlop.
He was remembered as a kind-hearted, funny and engaging teenager who had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and valued. His warm smile, blue eyes and genuine personality helped him form meaningful friendships with people around him.
Nash was also a gifted athlete who approached everything he did with energy, determination and passion. Basketball was especially important to him, and he was known for his athletic ability, competitive nature and dedication to his teammates.
Whether he was playing basketball, spending time with friends or enjoying time with the people closest to him, Nash brought a memorable presence to those around him.
Family and Loved Ones
Nash was deeply loved by his grandparents Jim Dunlop, known as “Paka,” Jan Edwards, known as “Nana,” Ken Edwards, known as “Papa,” and Ian Moncrieff, known as “Grandpa.” He was also preceded in death by his grandmothers Roberta Dunlop and Mary Jo Dunlop.
He will be remembered by his aunts and uncles Sean Edwards (Kelly Helbin), Jackie Edwards (Tobin Filleter), Meg Dunlop (Tim Copeland), Jordan (Brendan Watson), Katherine Forbes and Clark Lonergan, Britney and Kjeld Knoppen, Craig McKendrick, and Rika deHaas and Neil Moncrieff.
His cousins also held a special place in his life, including Pyper Copeland (Nick Lumley), Tadhg Copeland (Maddy McClellan), Ellis Copeland, Kate Edwards (Quenton Race), Jack Edwards, Jax Helbin, George and Elle McKendrick, Elizabeth Filleter, Isabel and Tommy Boy Watson, and Connor Moncrieff.
Nash will also be greatly missed by his classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers and the many friends whose lives he touched.
A Lasting Impact
Nash’s family expressed gratitude to the friends, mentors, teachers, coaches and pastors who supported and encouraged him throughout his life.
Their guidance and care helped shape Nash during his teenage years, and his family said the positive influence those people had on him will always be remembered.
Although his life ended at just 16, the relationships Nash built and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him. His family remembers him for his smile, generous heart, friendships and the positive presence he brought into their lives.
Funeral Service and Celebration of Life
A funeral service for Nash Dunlop will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ontario N1G 4X9. A livestream will be available for those unable to attend in person.
A larger community celebration of Nash’s life is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 454 Arkell Road, Puslinch, Ontario N0B 2J0. Brief remarks and shared memories will begin at 3 p.m.
The gathering will welcome everyone whose life was touched by Nash, including his high-school and college-aged friends, classmates, teammates and coworkers. It is intended to provide a supportive setting where young people can come together, share memories and grieve alongside one another.
Family friends and adults who knew Nash are also welcome to attend and support his loved ones and friends as they remember a young life that meant so much to many people.
