Mary Linda Moore Obituary, Death – Mississippi State Extension Service Worker Dies at 66
Mary Linda Moore, a longtime Mississippi State University Extension Service employee and beloved member of her family, passed away on September 21, 2026, at the age of 66. She was born on June 8, 1960, and leaves behind family, friends, and many cherished memories.
Mary Linda was born and raised on Fort Loring Plantation just west of Greenwood, Mississippi. Growing up on the farm played an important role in shaping her adventurous nature and strong appreciation for family, values that remained central throughout her life.
Career with Mississippi State University Extension Service
After graduating from Mississippi State University, Mary Linda dedicated her entire professional career to the Mississippi State University Extension Service.
She served families in Alcorn County, using her education and experience to help others and becoming a familiar and trusted presence within the community. Her years of service reflected her commitment to putting her knowledge and talents to work for the benefit of others.
Family, Art and Pets
Following her retirement, Mary Linda enjoyed spending time with her artwork and caring for her pets. Her interests brought her happiness, but family remained one of the most important parts of her life.
Living next door to her youngest grandchildren allowed her to share many special moments with them, while remaining close to her older grandchildren was another source of joy. Her presence in the lives of her grandchildren created memories that her family will continue to treasure.
Mary Linda was preceded in death by her father, R. B. Moor.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Brand Pearson Moor; her brother, Robert Baird Moor, Jr.; and her sisters, Margaret Moor Rinicker and Laurie Moor Putman.
Her surviving family also includes her son, Nicholas James “Cole” Moore and his wife, Chaylee, and their children, Talan, Harper, and Haddy; her daughter, Mary Ashley Moor Yarber and her husband, Shawn, and their children, Jackson and Lennox; and her daughter, Laurie Elizabeth Moore and her children, Emma and Abby.
Funeral and Memorial Service
A graveside service for Mary Linda Moore will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton on Thursday, September 24, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend the service, which will be officiated by the Rev. Dustin Long.
In place of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mary Linda was a Christian woman who lived life on her own terms and placed great importance on the people she loved.
Her career allowed her to serve families in her community, while her later years gave her more time to enjoy her artwork, pets, and especially her children and grandchildren.
